Prof. Dr. Metin TUNAY was born in Çankaya / Ankara. He completed his primary and secondary education in Bolu. He graduated from Department of Forest Engineering in Forestry Faculty of Black Sea Technical University. In 1984, he was appointed as a research assistant for Forestry Construction, Geodesy and Photogrammetry Branch in Department of Forest Engineering of Black Sea Technical University. He made his military service as reserve officer in Istanbul 23rd Infantry Division. Graduated from Forestry Construction, Geodesy and Photogrammetry Department of Graduate School of Natural and Applied Science of Istanbul University and received the title of higher Forest Engineer. In 1994, he completed his doctoral studies and became a PhDoctor. In 1995, he was transferred to Forest Engineering Department of Bartın Forestry Faculty as a lecturer from Black Sea Technical University. Between June and September 1998, he studied about transport technique and GPS on flat and mountainous areas with Prof.Dr. Henryk Rozanski from Poznan Forestry Faculty and Prof.Dr. Zenon Muszynski from Krakow Forestry Faculty through a research scholarship awarded by the Polish government. He taught at the University of Cordoba and Jan Evangelista Purkyne University with Erasmus program. He's a licensed tennis player. He worked as a manager between 2009 and 2016 at Bartın Vocational School, where he served as a vice principal between 1999 and 2009. He has forty years of experience as a scholar at three universities, including Black Sea Technical University, Zonguldak Black Diamond University, Bartın University, where he managed twelve projects and trained six doctoral students. There are two books and national and international one hundred fourteen publications. His study topics are forestry construction and transportation, ergonomics, geodesy and remote sensing. He has two children. He has life coaching certificate and occupational health and safety trainer certificate.
